WEST BENGAL STUDENT CREDIT CARD SCHEME (WBSCCS)

The WBSCCS was introduced in 2021 to enable students of West Bengal to pursue education without the challenges of financial constraints. The scheme can be availed for secondary, higher secondary, madrasah, undergraduate and post graduate studies; including professional degree and other equivalent courses.

It covers school, madrasah, college, university, other affiliated institutes within and outside India; competitive examinations coaching institutions for Engineering, Medical, Law, IAS, IPS, and WBCS.

Under WBSCCS a maximum loan of Rs. 10 lakhs @ 4% per annum simple interest can be secured from the West Bengal State Cooperative Bank, its affiliated Central Cooperative Banks, District Central Cooperative Banks, Regional Rural Banks, and Public/Private Sector Banks.

The upper age limit at the time of applying for loan is 40 years. The loan repayment period 15 years. There is 1% interest concession if the interest is fully serviced during the study period. Moratorium for repayment is 1 year after completion of the course or getting employment, whichever is earlier.
