On the occasion of International Yoga Day, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Loreto College, Kolkata, along with Dibyayan Yoga and Research Centre, conducted a Yoga Workshop at Boinchtala Village on Saturday, June 21, 2025. The volunteers from Loreto College and the resource group, headed by Ms. Kajari Mitra, arrived at the venue at 1:00PM. The session commenced at 1:30 PM with an introduction, which was then followed by demonstrations of yoga asanas such as Tadasana, Bhujangasana, and Vrikshasana. The village women and children actively engaged in the session and also took part in various pranayams (Anulom-Vilom and Kapalbhaati) and stress-reducing exercises like Shavasana. In consonance with the motto of NSS, 'not me but you,' the unit decided to share the resources with the women of the village, Boinchtola and organised this workshop which brought together the students and the local villagers in a spirit of mutual cooperation and well being. Yoga with special focus on women's health was the primary thrust area and women of all age groups participated enthusiastically in the workshop. The workshop reinforced the importance of Yoga in battling the common lifestyle diseases and in countering stress and anxiety. Participants were directed by the trainers in order to learn each asana properly, with active participation from NSS volunteers. The workshop ended with a vote of thanks, after which light refreshments were distributed to everyone. This interactive session highlighted the significance of Yoga in the modern world where Yoga enhances physical health, mental acuity, and emotional equilibrium in everyday life.
