Introduction to Life Skills – Value Added Course ( B.Ed. Semester III)

The Centre for Life Skills, Loreto College, organised a Value-Added Course titled "Introduction to Life Skills" for B.Ed. Semester III students on December 12, 2025. The programme was conceptualised to sensitise future educators to the importance of life skills in personal growth, professional effectiveness, and holistic well-being, in alignment with the broader vision of NEP 2020.

The session provided students with a structured understanding of core life skills essential for navigating academic, social, and emotional challenges. The sessions focused on developing higher-order thinking abilities, emotional intelligence, interpersonal competence, and self-awareness-skills that are crucial for both classroom practice and everyday life.

The initial sessions introduced students to key life skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking, problem-solving, effective communication, empathy, decision-making, and coping with stress and emotions. These discussions enabled students to reflect on real-life situations, encouraging them to connect theoretical concepts with lived experiences.

The concluding session adopted a reflective and holistic approach, emphasising the foundational relevance of life skills in shaping attitudes, values, and responsible behaviour. Special focus was given to self-awareness and interpersonal relationships, highlighting their role in building resilience, ethical sensitivity, and positive social engagement among teachers and learners alike.

Overall, the session served as an enriching learning experience that empowered students to recognise life skills as an integral component of teacher education. The programme successfully fostered reflection, engagement, and awareness, reinforcing the need to integrate life skills education meaningfully into academic and professional contexts.
