Follow-Up Session of the Train the Trainer Programme

An online follow-up session of the Train the Trainer Programme was organised on 15th October from 6:30 pm onwards to review the progress made in implementing life skills education in various institutions. The session aimed to understand how effectively the participating teachers were able to apply the skills learnt during the training and to identify the challenges faced during implementation.

The session was conducted and facilitated by Ms. Tania Mondal, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, and included reflective interactions guided by Dr. Radhakrishnan Nair. Participants shared their personal and professional experiences in applying essential life skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, effective communication, teamwork, emotional regulation, and empathy. Many expressed that although the initial application required conscious effort, regular practice has helped them internalise these skills more naturally.

Several participants conducted life skills sessions with students and teachers in their schools and youth organisations. They observed that students require gradual exposure to socio-emotional learning as it is still a new concept for many. Teachers working in inclusive classroom settings highlighted the need to modify activities to support diverse learning needs and ensure that no child feels excluded.

The need to involve parents more actively was also emphasised, as their attitudes significantly influence children’s well-being and behaviour. Suggestions included integrating life skills into the existing curriculum, using stories and real-life situations in lessons, and organising periodic sessions on stress and anger management.

The session concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen life skills education and continue offering follow-up support for sustained growth and student development.
