Loreto College Wellness Cell Hosts Faculty Workshop on Student Mental Health Awareness
On December 19, 2025, Loreto College Wellness Cell held an impactful session titled "Identifying Student Psychological Issues Series 2.0", aimed at strengthening the faculty's ability to support student well-being. The workshop, which commenced at 2:15 p.m., was specifically designed to provide professors and staff with the tools necessary to recognize early signs of psychological distress in the student body.
The session was led by Ms. Maupali Ghosh, a Clinical Psychologist and the resident Counselor at Loreto College. Following a formal introduction, Ms. Ghosh conducted an intensive educational program utilizing a detailed multimedia presentation.
The workshop moved beyond theoretical frameworks, employing a diverse range of instructional methods:
Visual Case Studies: Educational videos were shown to illustrate the specific psychological hurdles commonly faced by modern college students.
Data-Driven Insights: The speaker shared academic research articles focused specifically on the psychological health of students within the Indian context.
Interactive Analysis: Faculty members engaged in collaborative discussions centered around real-world case scenarios to practice identification techniques.
The event concluded with an interactive Q&A period and a formal vote of thanks acknowledging the contributions of the Resource Person Ms. Maupali Ghosh, Teacher-in-Charge Dr. Sr. Nirmala, and IQAC Coordinator Dr. Amrita Dasgupta, as well as the IT and office staff.
The initiative was met with high praise from attendees, most of whom provided feedback noting that the experience was "very enriching". Faculty members expressed confidence that the session would significantly aid them in identifying and addressing the psychological needs of their students moving forward.
