Department of History Community Service Visit
On 15th November, the students of the History Department, Loreto College, participated in a meaningful community service initiative at Boinchtala Upendranath Vidyamandir. The programme took the form of a creative clay art workshop, conducted by T's Cozy Art Studio, under the guidance of its founder, Ms. Trinisha Bhattacharya. This workshop marked the continuation of an engaging session that had begun the previous day.
The objective of the initiative was to introduce the young students of the school to the basics of clay crafting, particularly the making of clay jewellery, a craft form that blends creativity, fine motor skills, and imaginative expression. Over the span of two hours, the children enthusiastically participated in shaping, moulding, and designing small clay pieces into ornaments such as pendants, earrings, and charms. Ms. Bhattacharya demonstrated each step with great patience, ensuring that every child felt confident and encouraged throughout the process.
The Loreto College students played an active supporting role by helping the children understand the techniques and refine their creations. Their involvement not only facilitated smoother learning but also strengthened the bond between the college volunteers and the schoolchildren. The session was filled with joy, curiosity, and artistic exploration, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
This community service activity successfully combined service, creativity, and learning. It allowed the volunteers to understand the value of skill-based education while contributing positively to the children’s artistic development. Overall, the workshop was enriching, productive, and deeply fulfilling for both the students and the facilitators.
