Inside-Out: Cultivating Mental Wellness through Creative Expression and Mindfulness

The Wellness Centre of Loreto College organised a two-hour mindfulness session on November 13, 2025, for Semester V students. The session aimed to strengthen emotional resilience, improve focus, and enhance overall psychological well-being. It was facilitated by clinical psychologist Ms. Maupali Ghosh, who specialises in evidence-based therapeutic practices such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

The session focused on equipping students with essential mindfulness tools to navigate academic and personal challenges. It introduced simple techniques to help them stay present, sharpen attention, and reduce everyday distractions. Students were encouraged to build emotional awareness by recognising their feelings and responding to them with calmness and clarity.

A significant part of the session addressed stress and anxiety management, offering grounding and relaxation practices that students could easily incorporate into their routines. Emphasis was also placed on cultivating kindness and empathy-both toward oneself and others—to support healthier interpersonal relationships. Overall, the programme encouraged students to adopt regular mindfulness habits to promote long-term mental and emotional well-being.
