Inter-College Poster Making Competition on "Upcycling E-Waste: Turning Tech Trash to Eco-Friendly Treasure"
On September 2, 2025, the ICT Society, in collaboration with the W.E. Nature Society, successfully hosted a significant event comprising two segments - a Poster-Making Competition using e-waste and an online reel-making contest. The offline segment featured an inter-college poster-making competition, which took place from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM in the Concert Hall of Loreto College, Kolkata.
The Poster-Making Competition attracted a total of 7 teams, consisting of two participants each. Among the participants, 3 teams represented Loreto College, while 4 teams were from Shri Shikshayatan College. Prior to the competition, an informative meeting was held to clarify the rules and regulations governing the event.
During the competition, each team was allocated 1 hour and 30 minutes to conceptualize and design posters centred around the theme "Upcycling E-Waste: Turning Tech Trash to Eco-Friendly Treasure." The participants used e-waste elements and their creative abilities to design their posters. The theme aimed to raise awareness about the environmental impacts of electronic waste and promote innovative approaches to recycling and reusing.
The event was meticulously managed by the heads of the ICT Society and the W.E. Nature Society. Faculty advisors from both societies, including Ms. Chandrani Sengupta, Ms. Chinmoyee Ray, Dr. Satyabrota Kundu, Mrs. Sabiha Sethwala, Mrs. Dipanwita Ghosh, and Dr. Ambika Roy Bardhan, were in attendance to witness the creativity and dedication displayed by the participants.
The event was judged by Ms. Nafisa Malik, who was diligent in evaluating the participants. A fair scoring process announced the 'Junk to Jewels' team from Shri Shikshayatan College as the winner, followed by the 'Goboo Gang' team from Loreto College as the 1st runner-up, and the 'E-Waste Warriors' team from Shri Shikshayatan College as the 2nd runner-up.
This competition not only provided a platform for participants to express their creativity but also highlighted the importance of sustainable practices in technology and waste management.
