Session on Identifying Student Psychological Issues at Loreto College



On August 28, 2025 the Wellness Cell of Loreto College organized a session on "Identifying Student Psychological Issues" for faculty members to enhance their understanding of the psychological challenges faced by students. The session was conducted by Ms. Maupali Ghosh, Clinical Psychologist and Counselor at Loreto College.

The objective of the session was to equip teachers with knowledge that would enable them to identify psychological issues among students and guide them appropriately as mentors.

In her presentation, Ms. Ghosh addressed a wide range of topics, including: the symptoms found among students, how can it be identified by the teachers.

What is anxiety,
What is depression,
What is addiction,
What is an eating disorder,
What is ADHD,
What is psychosis,

Case scenarios and case descriptions for interactive discussion.

The presentation combined lecture, statistical data on the use of counselling service by the students at Loreto College till date, videos illustrating common psychological issues, and case-based exercises that encouraged faculty participation for a discussion.

The interactive session concluded with faculty members sharing their reflections. Many described the workshop as highly enriching, noting that the insights gained would help them recognize and respond more effectively to psychological issues among students.
