Become a Higher Education Leadership Evangelist @ your Institution
Christ University, Kengeri Campus, Bangalore
Sr. Dr. A. Nirmala and Dr. Ranjita Dawn participated in the training programme "Become a Higher Education Leadership Evangelist @ Your Institution" organized by Christ University, Kengeri Campus, Bangalore, from August 22-23, 2025. This two-day capacity-building initiative was designed to prepare higher education professionals to take on leadership roles as trainers and facilitators within their institutions.
The programme focused primarily on the development of effective presentation and facilitation skills, key competencies for academic leaders who are required to communicate ideas persuasively, inspire teams, and build institutional capacity. The sessions were carefully curated to ensure a balanced integration of theory and practice. On the one hand, participants were introduced to conceptual frameworks related to presentation dynamics, audience psychology, and leadership communication. On the other hand, these theoretical inputs were reinforced through hands-on training, interactive discussions, participant-led presentations, short films, real-life case studies, and small-group activities. This multi-dimensional methodology allowed participants to experience first-hand how ideas can be translated into engaging and impactful practice.
During the training sessions, particular emphasis was placed on the art of content creation and delivery, how to design material that resonates with diverse categories of learners/audience, how to structure content for clarity and retention, and how to adopt varied modes of presentation for maximum effectiveness. Trainers also explored techniques to manage different audience types, from highly participative groups to passive listeners, ensuring inclusivity and engagement throughout.
The sessions not only enhanced presentation competencies but also provided insights into the broader role of a trainer as a facilitator and motivator. By the end of the programme, participants were equipped with the necessary tools and strategies to conduct leadership training sessions within their own institutions and extend such initiatives to neighbouring institutions, thereby acting as catalysts in the wider academic community.
Overall, the programme was a transformative experience that combined knowledge enrichment with skill-building. It offered participants an opportunity to reflect on their leadership roles in higher education, expand their professional toolkit, and strengthened their ability to contribute to institutional growth through effective communication and training.
