Debating Workshop
The Debating Society of Loreto College, Kolkata organised an engaging debating workshop titled "Why Should You Debate- An Introduction to the Debating World" conducted by Mr. Yashoroop Dey, an acclaimed debating mentor and researcher in public policy and governance on 7th and 8th April, 2025.
The two-day workshop witnessed remarkable participation from students across departments. The workshop was informative, interactive and introduced the participants to the art of debating and critical thinking. The first day of the workshop was dedicated to the preliminaries - developing contexts, content building and constructing and structuring arguments. The second day highlighted how to put forth effective arguments and the workshop concluded with the students debating "This House believes that AI Art is not real Art".
Several other motions were also put forward and debated on like "This House believes that Euthanasia should be legal" and “This House believes that Freedom of Speech should be absolute.” All the participants embraced this learning opportunity and received valuable guidance and inputs from the expert.
