Study Tour to Indian Museum - "March to Freedom" Exhibition

On August 31, 2022, thirty-nine Semester V students from Loreto College's Department of Political Science embarked on a study tour to the Indian Museum in Kolkata. The primary objective of this visit was to explore the "March to Freedom: Reflections on India's Independence" exhibition, curated by Mrinalini Venkateswaran and organized by DAG New Delhi at Indian Museum, Kolkata.

The exhibition commemorated the 75th anniversary of India's independence. It delved into the rich history of India's freedom movement and anti-colonial struggle through a diverse collection of art and artifacts from the DAG collection. The exhibition was a comprehensive display, featuring posters, paintings, cinema posters, miniatures, life portraits of freedom fighters, and pictorial documentation of the independence movement through postcards and letters.

During the visit, students received guided explanations from the exhibition organizers themselves, providing insights into each section's historical and artistic significance. Students actively participated in the postcard writing activity, where they reflected on their experiences and impressions of the exhibition. Apart from the "March to Freedom" exhibition, students also had the opportunity to explore other regular sections of the Indian Museum. This included diverse collections ranging from archaeology to art, enriching their overall cultural and educational experience.

The study tour to the Indian Museum and the "March to Freedom" exhibition was an enriching and educational experience for the Semester V students of Loreto College. It not only deepened their understanding of India's independence struggle but also provided a platform for artistic and cultural appreciation.
