IGNITION 2025
The Economics Department of Loreto College, Kolkata, organized its annual quiz competition IGNITION on May 08, 2025, at the College Concert Hall. This year's theme, "Intellectual Property Rights," offered participants a thought-provoking exploration into the domain of global and national IPR frameworks.
Three teams representing Semesters 2, 4, and 6 participated in the competition. The quiz was conducted in two rounds, each curated and led by faculty members of the department. The first round, focused on general knowledge related to Intellectual Property Rights, was conducted by Mr. Nilavo Roy. This was followed by a second round -a fact-checking segment centred on India and IPR-conducted by Dr. Mainak Bhattacharjee. Both faculty members served as quizmasters for the event.
Team A (Semester 2) comprising Saloni Roy and Shridatri Acharjee topped the first round with 25 points. However, it was Team B (Semester 4), represented by Vanshika Agarwal and Arushi Bajpai, who staged an impressive comeback in the second round to emerge as the winners of IGNITION 2025. Team A secured the position of first runners-up, while Team C (Semester 6), represented by Angana Mandal and Oishi Dey Chakraborty, finished as the second runners-up. Audience engagement was also a part of the event, with a few select questions directed at attendees. This segment added an inclusive and dynamic touch to the proceedings.
More than just a test of memory, IGNITION 2025 provided a meaningful platform for students to explore the complexities of intellectual property rights. The Department remains committed to fostering critical engagement with contemporary economic themes, and IGNITION continues to be a testament to that vision.
