On the occasion of Satyajit Ray's 104th birth anniversary on 2nd May 2025, the Media Society and Cine Society, in collaboration with the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and the Department of Film Studies, organized a special event titled "Jalsaghar - A Tribute to Satyajit Ray". The event was held in the Loreto College Auditorium from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. It was a heartfelt homage to one of India's greatest filmmakers, blending visual art and cinematic storytelling.
The event opened with a warm welcome address, followed by the Lighting of the Lamp ceremony led by our esteemed judge Mr. Jaydip Mukherjee and the Staff Advisors of Media and Cine Society. The event consisted of two key segments: a photography exhibition and a short film screening, both inspired by Ray's themes and visual language.
