Research Methodology Workshop
A workshop on Research Methodology was organised by the Research and Development Cell in collaboration with the Department of English for students of the department from Semester II on 28th April, 2025. Mr. Somnath Basu (Assistant Professor, Ramananda College) was the resource person for this enriching event. This workshop helped the students to gain valuable insight regarding the ethical methods of conducting academic research.
In the course of the session, Mr. Basu explained the importance of research and the attributes that determine its significance in the respective academic fields. He also provided valuable information regarding the approach to research across various countries.
Discussion on the various methods of citation was the highlight of the event. Mr. Basu explained about the types of citation and their formats and specific examples were used to provide a better understanding regarding the techniques of citation. Furthermore, Mr. Basu encouraged the students to identify the components which form the basic framework of a Bibliography. He emphasised on the significance of avoiding accidental plagiarism through acknowledgement of the referenced resources used for researching. Mr. Basu also elucidated the significance of original and unique research work.
Lastly, he mentioned certain reputed academic journals which accept research work conducted by students for publication. He also encouraged the students to conduct extensive academic research and make important contributions to their respective areas of interest.
Students participated in this workshop enthusiastically. This interactive session allowed them to sharpen their research skills and learn about the modalities of ethical research.
