Cite Right: Mastering the Art of Referencing
On the 11th of April, 2025, the Psychology Department (PG and UG) of Loreto College conducted an academic workshop titled "Cite Right: Mastering the Art of Referencing" in Room 219. The event was organized for Semester 2 postgraduate and Semester 6 undergraduate students of the department and was facilitated by the resource person, Ms. Shankhabela Mukherjee.
The session commenced at 11:00 AM, with students and faculty assembling in the designated venue. The workshop began with a warm welcome extended to Ms. Mukherjee, followed by a brief introduction outlining the session’s purpose and relevance.
The primary objectives of the workshop were:
1.To familiarize students with the principles and techniques of accurate referencing and citation in academic writing.
2.To promote awareness about academic integrity and the ethical use of sources in research work.
Ms. Mukherjee led the session with clarity and insight, focusing on the essential components of referencing and various citation styles commonly used in academia. The session particularly emphasized the APA referencing style, which is widely adopted in the field of psychology. Ms. Mukherjee also underscored the significance of proper source attribution and maintaining academic honesty.
The workshop was highly interactive, incorporating practical examples and encouraging questions from students, which kept participants actively engaged. Additionally, the resource person introduced tools and strategies for efficient reference management, aiding students in streamlining their research process.
The event concluded at 12:30 PM with a vote of thanks extended to Ms. Mukherjee for her valuable insights and contribution.
