One Day Student Seminar on "Technology, Innovation, and the Future of Learning"



The Department of Education (UG & PG), Salesian College (Autonomous), Sonada & Siliguri, in collaboration with IQAC and the Department of Education, Loreto College, Kolkata, organized a One Day Student Seminar on "Technology, Innovation, and the Future of Learning"on 17 December 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at the JPM Hall, Don Bosco Block. The seminar was conducted in a blended mode, with participants from Salesian College attending offline and faculty members and students of Loreto College, Kolkata joining the programme online through Google Meet.

The programme began with an invocation and opening remarks by Fr. (Dr.) Saju Puthuserry, Vice-Principal (Arts & Humanities), Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri, followed by a special address by Dr. Sukanya Mullick, Assistant Professor, Department of Education & B.Ed., Loreto College, Kolkata, who addressed the gathering online. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Prajwal Chettri, Dean of Sciences, Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri, who emphasized the impact of technology and innovation in transforming learning environments and preparing learners for future challenges.

The seminar comprised two technical sessions focusing on contemporary issues in education. Technical Session I highlighted Rethinking Learning Spaces: From Physical Classrooms to Virtual Reality, while Technical Session II focused on Technology-Driven Learning: Innovations, Engagement, and Future Skills. Students from Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri presented their papers in the offline mode, while two students Meghna Roy of Sem-V and Aksha Ekbal of Sem-III from Loreto College, Kolkata actively participated and presented papers online. The sessions encouraged critical discussion and scholarly exchange, followed by interactive question-and-answer sessions.

The programme concluded with a valedictory session, during which Fr. (Dr.) Jagjivan Tirkey, Vice-Principal (Commerce & Management Studies) and Bursar, Salesian College (Autonomous), Siliguri, delivered the closing remarks. Certificates were distributed to the participants, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Ganga Parajuli, Assistant Professor, Department of Education. The seminar successfully fostered academic collaboration between the two institutions and provided a valuable platform for students to engage with emerging trends in technology and education in the digital era.
