Kalakriti 2025

Kalakriti: An Amalgamation Across Different Levels of Abilities is the annual inclusive cultural event organised by the Department of Psychology in collaboration with the Psychology Society of Loreto College, under the guidance of the Teacher-in-Charge, Sister Dr. A. Nirmala. Building upon the spirit and structure of Kalakriti 2024, Kalakriti 2025 was conceptualised as a celebration of creativity, diversity, and psychosocial inclusion, in alignment with the institutional vision of promoting inclusive education, experiential learning, and community engagement.

Kalakriti 2025 marked the 17th successful celebration of this flagship event since its inception in 2009. The programme was designed to provide a supportive and equitable platform for individuals with diverse abilities to express themselves through art, movement, music, and performance, thereby fostering dignity, confidence, emotional well-being, and social participation.

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the honourable judges, staff advisors, department teachers, and members of the organising committee, invoking blessings for the smooth conduct and success of the programme. This was followed by an opening song and dance performance by students of the Department of Psychology, setting a vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive tone for the day while encouraging student-led participation and creative expression.

Kalakriti 2025 featured a balanced blend of off-stage and on-stage events, enabling participants to engage with the programme at multiple levels and according to their abilities. The off-stage events included Nirmal Kalpana, a creative art competition centred on sustainability through the use of waste and discarded materials, and Nava Patra, a New Year card-designing event emphasising imagination, emotional expression, and presentation skills. These activities not only nurtured fine motor skills and creativity but also promoted environmental awareness and responsible citizenship.

The on-stage segment comprised Purnang, a group dance event celebrating rhythm, coordination, teamwork, and collective expression, and Kalaa Chakra, an expressive performance event where participants sang or recited poems while dressing in accordance with the theme of their chosen piece. Together, these events highlighted confidence-building, emotional articulation, stage presence, and interpersonal skills, contributing to the holistic development of participants.

The performances were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising Ms. Maupali Ghosh, licensed Clinical Psychologist; Mr. Nilavo Roy, academic and institutional contributor; and Dr. Suranjana Mitra, eminent academic and former IQAC Coordinator. Their expertise, sensitivity, and encouragement added significant academic and ethical value to the event, reinforcing a culture of appreciation, inclusivity, and positive reinforcement.

Kalakriti 2025 concluded with a prize distribution ceremony that recognised creativity, effort, and participation across all events, reaffirming the belief that every participant contributed meaningfully to the collective experience. The event successfully reflected the institution’s commitment to student-centric learning, social responsibility, value-based education, and community outreach by fostering empathy, inclusiveness, leadership skills, and experiential learning beyond the classroom.

Kalakriti 2025 aligned with NAAC objectives by promoting inclusive and equitable quality education through active participation of individuals with diverse abilities. The event fostered student-centric and experiential learning by enhancing leadership, teamwork, and organisational skills. It also reflected institutional social responsibility and community engagement while encouraging holistic development, creativity, empathy, and environmental awareness.

The success of Kalakriti 2025 was made possible through the unwavering support and cooperation of the college administration, faculty members, student volunteers, participating institutions, parents, and guardians. The Department of Psychology extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Teacher-in-Charge, Sister Dr. A. Nirmala, staff advisors, department teachers, administrative and technical staff, sponsors, and volunteers for their dedication and collective efforts in ensuring the successful planning and execution of the event.

Kalakriti 2025 thus emerged not merely as a cultural programme but as a meaningful academic and social initiative that upheld the core values of Loreto College by integrating inclusivity, creativity, environmental consciousness, and holistic education into a single, impactful platform.
