Workshop on Self Defence in Kalagachia Kailash Kamini High School , Joka
The Department of Education of Loreto College visited Kalagachia Kailash Kamini High School, Nondan Nagar, Joka, on August 13, 2025 for Community Outreach Initiative on Self Defence workshop which was in collaboration with Bhumi. The workshop commenced with a classroom full of eager students of classes IX , X , XI , XII waiting to learn about Self Defence. Mr. Amrit Bhattacharya from Bhumi explained the varied forms of Verbal Abuse, Sexual Abuse and Cyber Bullying. The resource person explained the biological development of adolescents. He demonstrated various defence moves to protect oneself from sexual abuse that is faced by both males and females whether in public transport or through relatives. He involved volunteers from the students to teach a number of self defence techniques to escape or combat the abuser. He also made the students conscious of male sexual abuse with examples. Mr. Bhattacharya discussed about Cyber Bullying and ways to combat it, he explained how intimate pictures of an individual whether created through AI or real can be leaked and helped the students know about a website StopNCII.org that helps people report this issue.

The workshop was a learning experience for all participants.
