World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th day of June every year since 1974 which is the flagship day of United Nations for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. The details of the activity chosen for the programme are given below.
Activity 5: Our Green Decisions-Showcase your Campus video.
Date: 26th and 27th May, 2022
Steps taken:
Student teams were formed with faculty support.
These teams made short duration (5 minutes) videos on campus greenery and green decisions of the college to spread awareness among all stakeholders of the institution. Faculties (MGNCRE team members ) guided the students in this initiative from preparation of the video to explainingthe ‘What, Why and How’ aspects of the campus' green initiatives. The students themselvesparticipated in the video elucidating the processes involved in making a green, eco-friendly campus. They also highlighted about plant nurseries, vermicompost initiatives, solar panels and the automated water controller installed to regulate the overflow of water pumps in college. The activity helped students to reflect and appreciate the college's green actions, cleanliness and sustainable choices for a safe and healthy future.
