International Moment of Laughter Day, Laughter Yoga report

The Psychology Society and the Psychology Department organised ‘Laughter Yoga’, in observance of International Moment of Laughter Day, on April 27, 2022. Laughter yoga is known to promote health and mental well-being through prolonged voluntary laughter. The event was held in the Concert Hall was open to all the students of the College.

The programme included streaming of videos by Dr. Madan Kataria, who popularised Laughter Yoga in India and the world. Four facilitators guided the participants in the process of experiencing the benefits of this unique yoga form.

Questionnaires were circulated among the students; one before the event and one after. The questionnaires allowed the students to be mindful about their breathing and how their mind and body feels. The results from both were then compared to see if there were any changes. The analysis of the results suggested an overall increase in the feeling of well being.
