Water Day 2022

The Loreto College W.E. Nature Society organized its first offline event by commemorating World Water Day 2022. The programme was conducted over a span of three days – March 24, 28 and 29 – with each day being dedicated to one undergraduate year. The theme of this year’s Water Day as declared by the United Nations was ‘Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible.’
Thirteen members of the W.E. Nature Society participated in a field survey project, wherein they documented the status of groundwater in their immediate locality. The findings were compiled into a video and screened during the programme.
Students of all three years enthusiastically participated in a collective pledge-taking ceremony, where they vowed to make simple changes in their lifestyle in order to secure a healthier future for the elixir of life-water. Members of the society also made posters on the theme of groundwater depletion and contamination as part of the awareness campaign.
