World Music Day



The Department of B.Ed., Loreto College, celebrated World Music Day on June 21, 2021 by organising a virtual programme, commemorating the efforts of musicians all over the world, also understanding the ways in which music can become a positive force in providing valuable life lessons. The theme chosen for the programme was "Lessons of Life" portrayed beautifully through the songs presented. The programme began with B.Ed. trainees addressing everyone with a famous quote by Plato on the intrinsic ways in which music is woven in our lives. The programme then proceeded with a soulful Hindi song "Aao Hum Sab Haath Milaaye" highlighting the importance of unity in our lives. The programme also included Bengali -Assamese fusion song "Tuk Dekhi Mur Ga", Bengali song "Bhalobashar Gaan" which had strains of Spanish musical interlude, English song "Make A Little Difference", Hindi song "Badal Pe Paaon Hai", Nepali song, "Phoolko Ankhoma", Bengali song "Jhiri Jhiri Chaitali" and a reading on the significance of music in education. The programme ended with a vote of thanks delivered by a trainee teacher. The students of the Department of B.Ed. is grateful to Sister Christine Coutinho, Principal of Loreto College and Dr Debika Guha, the Head of the Department of B.Ed., for their immense support and cooperation. The virtual programme was enjoyed by all teachers and students.
