Orientation on Anti-Ragging for First and Second Year Students

In keeping with the College’s strict Anti-Ragging policy, a virtual orientation was organized to sensitise students about the menace of ragging. The sessions were conducted on February 8 and 10, 2021 for First and Second year students respectively by Mrs. S. Mitra Deb, Academic and Administrative Officer and Ms. Srijita Chakravarty, Head of the Anti-Ragging Cell. The presentation elaborated on the various definitions and types of ragging which could be verbal, physical or even psychological. Knowing the tremendous adverse impact ragging can have on an individual, students were urged to immediately contact the College Helpline if they are subjected to ragging. The students were assured that the College will make every effort to redress their grievances and will handle any such issue with sensitivity. All students were asked to consciously refrain from making comments with regard to race, community, physical characteristics, religion or background of fellow students however, innocuous it may seem to be. The sessions were followed by queries about how best to cope with ragging.
