Session on Research Methodology for Semester 2 History Major students
A session on Research Methodology was conducted by Dr. Sukanya Mitra, of the Department of History on 23rd April 2025 for the Semester 2 students. Dr. Mitra spoke in detail about the importance of research in the discipline of history,laying out the basic parameters that shape meaningful historical inquiry. She guided students through the various stages of the research process, including the selection of a topic, framing of research questions, and conducting a literature review. Emphasis was placed on the need for a wide array of sources and the potential benefits of pursuing interdisciplinary research. Dr. Mitra also offered general guidance on how to approach the overall research journey in a structured and thoughtful manner.
Students found the discussion highly informative and helpful in shaping their understanding of academic research.
