Seminar on Career Prospects in Civil Services

On 24 April 2025, the Department of Political Science, in collaboration with the Career Counselling Cell, Loreto College Kolkata, organised a seminar on Career Prospects in Civil Services in the College Auditorium. The objective of the event was to inspire students and provide guidance for pursuing a career in the civil services.

The guest speaker for the seminar was Mr. Vivek Drolia, Director, Department of Telecommunications, Government of India. The programme commenced with a formal introduction of the distinguished speaker, followed by a ceremonial felicitation.
Drawing upon his vast experience in public service and administration, Mr. Drolia delivered an engaging and insightful session. He not only shared his professional expertise but also demonstrated a genuine passion for mentoring aspiring civil servants. By recounting his personal journey into the civil services, he offered students a relatable and humanised perspective of the otherwise rigorous and competitive examination process.

Mr. Drolia emphasised the significance of perseverance, mental clarity, and a strategic approach in preparing for examinations such as the UPSC. His address was both motivational and informative, highlighting the challenges and rewards that accompany a career in the bureaucracy.
The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from Semester VI students across various departments, underscoring the broad appeal and interdisciplinary relevance of the civil services.

The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks, leaving the student audience better informed, inspired, and encouraged to consider civil services as a meaningful and impactful career path.
