Earn While You Learn
The official launch of the "Earn While You Learn" programme was held on 01.09.2025 in the Concert Hall and the auditorium of Loreto College, Kolkata. The initiative was introduced with the objective of providing students with on-campus opportunities to balance academics with practical work experience, while also instilling responsibility, confidence, and skill development.
The ceremony started with the dignitaries gathering and all teachers, Sem 3 and PG students taking their places in the concert hall and Sem 1 students in the auditorium. To ensure inclusivity, a live screening of the event was arranged in the Auditorium, allowing the entire student body to be part of the launch simultaneously. The proceedings opened with the Lighting of the Lamp by Dr. Sr. A. Nirmala, Prof. Debasish Biswas, Dr. Amrita Dasgupta, and UG student council representatives and PG student representative, marking the beginning of a new and meaningful journey.
This was followed by Felicitation of the Chief Guest, Prof. Debasish Biswas, Inspector of Colleges, University of Calcutta, by members of the Student Council. The programme then proceeded with an Introduction to the Earn While You Learn Scheme, describing its vision of having a platform where students can learn and earn at the same time in the college setup.
An encouraging Welcome Address by Dr. Sr. A. Nirmala set the tone for the event, highlighting the focus of the institution on all-round education and student development.
This was preceded by the Official Inauguration of the Scheme and Address by Prof.Debasish Biswas. He encouraged the students to embrace every opportunity with sincerity, stating that the experience gained through "Earn While You Learn" would stand as a strong foundation for their future professional journeys. His words inspired and motivated the students, who listened with great enthusiasm both in the Concert Hall and via the live screening in the Auditorium.
The function ended with a sincere Vote of Thanks, thanking the dignitaries, members of the faculty, Student Council, and students for making the event unforgettable.
The establishment of "Earn While You Learn" was a milestone for Loreto College, providing opportunities for students to grow professionally while pursuing their education. The well- thought-out initiative was met with optimism and hope, leaving students with excitement and sense of duty.
